In traditional cultures, childbearing women are provided
with special diets, herbs and foods, often given to them in a ceremonially
prescribed manner. The women are cared for with special baths, exercises,
bodywork and teas. Over time, these cultures have found that such practices
are important in safeguarding the health, well-being, and integrity
of the childbearing mother, and in protecting and assisting the expansion
of consciousness for the mother, family and entire community.
Evenstar Herbs Herbal Childbearing Year products are designed
to support and uphold the immense, powerful and integral healing surrounding
the birth of the baby. The tinctures, baths, oils and infusions help

and integrate the community.
We hope these products make a contribution to your health,
well-being, and enjoyment of this special time.

Herbal baths have been used for centuries to release
& ease the effects of stress in the body and to relax & calm the
mind.
Traditionally, herbal baths have been used because they assist the healing
process in the body. Such a bath has a profound healing dynamic for the
body during the childbearing year, and may help renew healthy vitality.
These Childbearing Year Herbal Bath formulas are designed to interact
in several ways to provide ingredients for supporting optimal healing.
The herbal constituents may assist the healing by being in direct contact
with the body, and they are also believed to be rapidly absorbed through
the skin into the blood stream. This absorption into the blood stream
helps dispersion of the herbal constituents throughout the body to the
appropriate sites for healing. The heat of the water releases volatile
oils and may greatly increase circulation in the body. This increased
circulation may result in more blood flow throughout the body and better
absorption of the herbs thus speeding healing, cleansing and nourishment.
This is thought to increase the amount and rate of cell repair as well
as cell proliferation.
The experience most women usually have when using the herbal baths is
a feeling of being soothed and comforted. Women have reported that the
bath itself feels quite comfortable and that afterwards they feel calm,
clear and restored.
Many women have remarked on the beautiful fragrance of the herbs and
how relaxing and nourishing the whole experience of the bath is.
In addition to the wonderful herbal actions, the pure, simple act of
taking time out for nourishing yourself by taking this bath may be an
important and necessary part of protecting and attending to your vulnerable,
open, delicate childbearing year energy dynamics.
A wonderful & nurturing way to get the advantage of herbal remedies,
Herbal Baths can be taken everyday and more if needed. For best results
relax and soak in the tub for 30-60 minutes.

Childbearing Year Herbal Tinctures are alcohol extractions. Traditionally
alcohol tinctures have been used because they dissolve nearly all of the
relevant ingredients of an herb including alkaloids, resins and essential
oils that cannot be extracted in water, vinegar, or glycerine. Alcohol
based tinctures thus may extract and concentrate a wider range of ingredients
than other methods of extractions and preserve and stabilize the constituents
and properties of the herb. Their potency is thought to last for years,
they are easily utilized by the body and they are convenient and always
ready to be used.

What will herbs do for me during the childbearing
year? How do they work?
During the the childbearing year the mother's and baby's systems are in a
delicately balanced state of growth and expansion. Nourishing and tonifying
herbs are perfect for the extra growth and nutrient requirements of the childbearing
year because they are basically complex nutrient sources.
Nourishing and tonifying herbs are vitamin and mineral rich, easily utilized
by the body and put no stress on the body in being absorbed. They balance
and harmonize the nutrient needs of the childbearing year and help prevent and
alleviate discomforts and complaints, supporting the development and health
of the mother and baby.
Many nourishing herbs are good sources of chlorophyll, complex carbohydrates,
proteins and amino acids. They have traditionally been found to be naturally
rich in trace minerals and other nutrients.
Wild plants have been used as sources for bioflavoids and essential fatty
acids both of which are believed to be crucial for a broad spectrum of health
activities.
Bioflavonoids enhance vein and capillary strength, and help control hemorrhoids
and varicose veins. They are thought to play a key role in new collagen production,
tightening and toning the skin. All wild plants contain essential fatty
acids including GLA, Omega 6 and Omega 3. EFA's have been suspected to be important
for a healthy heart, strong nerves and bones, fully functioning endocrine glands
and healthy skin tone.
Herbs used during the childbearing year may provide a rich source of minerals
for building strong bones muscle and tissues that grow and proliferate so rapidly
during this time. Nourishing and tonifying herbs are also thought to be
excellent sources of usable minerals such as calcium and iron. These minerals
assist the body in utilizing the vitamins in these herbs because without the
presence of minerals, vitamins are not thought to be effectively utilized by
the body.
Childbearing year herbs have also been used to strength the birth canal, perineum
and uterus, and to help maintain the tone, elasticity and integrity of connective
tissue such as skin and muscles. Such herbs taken during the childbearing
year are thought to help prevent the depletion of mineral resources, increase
the mothers stamina and endurance, and aid in postpartum recuperation and breast
feeding.
The use of nourishing and tonifying herbs are very well suited for the growth
and development needs of the mother and baby during the childbearing year. They
are gentle in their effect but provide a rich, whole source of nourishment.
Can herbs hurt me or my baby? Are they safe?
